Founded in 1993, Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) is one of the leading English language theatre producers and presenters in Asia. In addition to its repertoire of original musicals like Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress, the company has produced a number of critically acclaimed plays that include Into the Woods, Rent, M. Butterfly, Theyíre Playing our Song, ART and The Pillowman. SRT is also one of the biggest producers of childrenís theatre in Southeast Asia, with 60,000 audiences attending The Little Company productions annually. SRT presented and co-commissioned Sam Mendes The Bridge Project - The Winters Tale in 2009 where Singapore was the first and only Asian stop and starring Ethan Hawke. In 2010, The Bridge Project tour staged The Tempest. In 2011, it was Richard IIIstarring Kevin Spacey. SRT also produces the Shakespeare in the Park series at Fort Canning Park. SRT has staged Hamlet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth and recently in April 2012, Twelfth Night.
